We all know that you should never ask a woman her age or her weight, it’s just bad form, however, I don’t think anyone will be offended if I tell you how much the stone sarcophagi in our To Live Forever exhibition weigh.

We’ve had fantastic attendance for the show, but the question about the sarcophagi just keeps coming up. Something about those huge slabs of stone just makes you want to know, how heavy are they.

Well, the sarcophagus located at the top of the stairs at the entrance to the exhibition (see pic below) weighs in at 1,200 pounds. That is just under the average weight of a Clydesdale horse. And now you know.
