Chase has launched a Facebook campaign that will award $5 million to various charities nationwide based upon a voting and grant process. The Museum is eligible, but we could use your help in getting the votes needed to be considered for the grant process.

If you are on Facebook, visit their page at http://www.facebook.com/#/ChaseCommunityGiving to vote for CMA. You must fan the page to vote (and you can vote for up to 20 organizations, however they don’t allow you to vote for any one organization multiple times). You are then able to spread the word about the campaign with your Facebook friends or on twitter, if you choose.

Giving the Gift of Art & Food?

I have been at CMA a little over a year now. In that time I have discovered how many people close to me adore the museum for its’ art, education, and/or family programming. Yet, I continue to struggle to get the message out at the holidays to give the gift of art.

Think about it… you probably know family and friends that would get a lot of enjoyment out of a year long membership to CMA.

This year we have even partnered with Barcelona Restaurant and Bar! With each membership that you purchase, we will include a $20 gift certificate toward the purchase of two dinner entrees at Barcelona.

If you want… you can keep the certificate for yourself and give the membership..lol… we won’t tell

So Much Happening!

I work here and I realize that we have so much going on at any given time that it is hard to stay current on what is happening here. It becomes my mission to do so mainly because I want the membership to realize all of the wonderful things that happen here because of them and for them. For instance, right now we are taking RSVP for the Member’s Preview of Chihuly Illuminated. Art Ball and ArtFUSION take place on October 3 and then October 11th is Chihuly Family Sunday. Those are the easy ones to remember though because I am directly involved. There are several talks, Art Challenges, Art Book Club, the “Remembering Russel” event and more just in September!

All I can say is keep visiting our website and stay up on your reading of the magazine so that you won’t miss even one opportunity here at the museum!

ArtFUSION/ Art Ball quickly approaching

Planning is well under way for ArtFUSION 2009, the cocktail party for young professionals held in conjunction with the annual Art Ball. It all happens October 3rd in the Museum’s Sculpture Garden, where ArtFUSION attendees will enjoy a live DJ, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and dessert, as well as entrance to the newly opened exhibition, Chihuly Illuminated. What’s more, the event will include a drawing for an original Dale Chihuly serigraph and a wall-sized video projection showing Chihuly in action.

Brown Bag with the Artist

This August, CMA is hosting “Brown Bag with the Artist” every Thursday at noon! A local artist is featured at each event to discuss how art is created. This program is FREE, and you may bring your own lunch or purchase a box lunch at the Palette Café.

August 13- Brown Bag with Jason Antol

Bring the whole family to join Columbus glass artist Jason Antol as he uses lots of hands on materials to share the versatile nature of glass and the ways in which it can mimic wood, stone, and ceramic works, and yet, how none of those media can do what glass can do. Come learn how Antol was inspired to become a glass artist after working as an intern at the Columbus Museum of Art!

Oh my, how time flies!

It dawned on me the other day that I am approaching a year at CMA. In that time I have tried my hardest to get to know our Members. This is something that I strive to do more and more each day. I talk to different members daily on the phone and have realized just how much I love my job! In beginning this blog, I hope to have yet another opportunity to be in contact with our Members to see what it is that CMA can do to make the most of their Membership. I also would like to reach out to non-members and show them the value of supporting the Columbus Museum of Art and being a Member.
