One of the originators of Impressionism, Claude Monet trained himself to see precisely and to record his impressions quickly. In View of Bennecourt, the bright, clear sunlight nearly dissolves the delicate colors of an early spring day. Monet has captured a particular quality of light and suggested the energy of new growth flowing through the trees. The rippling shadows of the trees lead our eyes to the shimmering village beyond.
