Art Celebration 2019
10.24.19, 6:00 PM
Join us for an elegant, black-tie evening imagining the transformative power of creativity as we celebrate a legacy while envisioning our future. Art Celebration provides critical support for the exceptional learning programs experienced by people of all ages at CMA every day.
This year we are delighted to honor Arlene and Michael Weiss, longtime friends of CMA and a force in the Columbus community, inspiring change both personally and professionally through their extraordinary leadership. At the Museum, Arlene and Michael are champions of arts education and leaders in supporting innovative CMA programs such as Wonder School. Arlene has shared her passion for learning as a CMA docent for 10 years. As forward thinkers, the Weiss’ challenge us to ensure that our programs have a lasting impact on the community for years to come.
Art Celebration features a keynote address by Director of the National Gallery of Art (Gallery) Kaywin Feldman. Prior to joining the Gallery, Feldman was the Nivin and Duncan MacMillan Director and President of the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) from 2008 – 2018. During that time, she doubled attendance; expanded the collection; launched and completed visionary strategic plans; transformed the museum’s relationship to the Twin City community by opening its doors to community dialogue, and engaging with the defining social issues of our era; and presented groundbreaking initiatives such as the Center for Empathy & the Visual Arts. She is a trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the White House Historical Association, and the Chipstone Foundation; past president of the Association of Art Museum Directors; and past chair of the American Alliance of Museums.
