Renee Dion Album Release

Join us for a special evening of music and creativity with the soulful sounds of Columbus- based singer Renee Dion, as she unveils her latest project, Haven, with a performance and album release. Dion’s performance is followed by a conversation with the singer discussing her creative process. Cost of the program is $10.

Richard Lopez Presents: Jazz Masters Series Amor de Cuba: Celebrate the Sounds of Cuba

This series of jazz performances features the best of traditional and contemporary jazz offerings with area master musicians. This concert features local charanga orchestra, La Charanga Tres with music director & flutist, Kristopher Keith. Performance styles include the danzón (the national music of Cuba); the cha-cha-cha; as well as the bolero and mambo. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $7 for students. CMA members receive $2 off each individual ticket. Tickets also available at the admissions desk.

Classical 101
Harpsichord Gallery Concert: Power, Piety and Prestige in 17th-Century Europe

Please join us for an intimate harpsichord concert in Gallery 10 with Kevin Jones, organist and minister of music at 1st Congregational Church. Mr. Jones’ program will involve the keyboard works of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Dutch composer and organist. Mr. Jones has served as an Associate Artist and Assistant Chorus Master with Cleveland Opera as well as a staff pianist at both the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. From 2007-2012, he was Canon Precentor and Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral, Hartford, Connecticut, as well as being a member of the vocal division faculty at the Hartt School. Following the concert Mr. Jones and CMA Chief Curator David Stark lead a conversation about the concert and the collection at a post-concert reception. Tickets are $35 for members, and $40 for nonmembers.

“Cosmic Thoughts” Premiere

Celebrate the live premiere of a local composer’s scenic writings about constellations, “Cosmic Thoughts,” a modern interpretation on the striking symbols of the night sky inspired by Kitt Peak’s National Observatory in Arizona. Written as a four-part chamber arrangement, “Cosmic Thoughts” transports the listener to a journey through our ever-changing night skies. Kristen Peters, composer of “Cosmic Thoughts,” is a Columbus native who has been playing violin for more than 20 years and currently plays with local musicians while finishing her first solo album, which is set to be released in early 2018. Tickets for the premiere are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $7 for students. CMA members receive $2 off each individual ticket. Tickets also available at the admissions desk.
