A Conversation with ART21, Play=Art

October 4, 2013

Join us as CMA Director of Education Cindy Foley will facilitate a conversation with artist Oliver Herring, Director of Art21, Educators Jessica Hamlin, and Researcher & Project Coordinator of Harvard University’s Project Zero Flossie Chau. This program is included with admission; however, registration is requested. Please RSVP to or 614.620.0359. On Saturday, October 5, Oliver Herring will also perform his “TASK” project with the community during the Day of Play: Design for the Future Now. Armed with only cardboard, tape, glue and recycled bits, visitors will create future homes, transportation, inventions and games on the Broad Street lawn of the Columbus Museum of Art to celebrate and activate play in its essential role in our collective creative thinking. Inspired by the internet sensation Caine’s Arcade, a short film about a 9-year-old boy’s unbridled creativity, CMA, the PAST Foundation and Mattress Firm Columbus are joining forces to support the Global Day of Play Cardboard Challenge 2013 through the Day of Play: Design for the Future Now event.  Initiated by the Imagination Foundation, this year’s Cardboard Challenge will engage 1 million children and adults in 70 countries in creative play.
