In
this thematic area, Eye Spy visitors are introduced to the
Museum and its collection.
You can Meet the Staff, take
a Cool Quiz, and learn what's Not to Be Missed at the Museum with
interactive video kiosks.
Examine the artwork of local artist Aminah Robinson, including a
large, mixed-media
cloth painting depicting life on Columbus'
Mount Vernon Avenue in the
1940s
and
'50s. Listen to nine residents
describe what life was like on
the street, and
try to find different people in the
painting's
bustling
scene.
Try other activities that illustrate the varied types of art (photography,
installations, etc.) as well as art styles such as impressionism
and cubism. Enjoy fun games that demonstrate the raw materials used
in creating art and show how artists help us see the world in radically
different ways.
Discover techniques and technologies that help the Museum
document and preserve works of art. See what happens to art if everyone
could touch it, and uncover the drawing beneath a painting created
almost 500 years ago!
