OSU Alumni - The Columbus Museum of Art wants to see what you collect!

Coming this fall to the Columbus Museum of Art, our newest exhibition Objects of Wonder from The Ohio State University (September 26th through January 18th). Both founded in the 1870s, The Columbus Museum of Art and The Ohio State University have shared a passion for knowledge and collecting for more than one hundred and thirty years. Objects of Wonder takes its cue from the age-old "cabinet of curiosities," which displayed an astonishing range of objects, from the scientific to the artistic. The exhibition brings to light the surprising treasures held in the University's vast collections, from matchboxes to Marilyn, pigeons to paintings, and cartoons to costumes. Each has a story to tell and experienced together, inspires unexpected connections. Bring your curiosity as you discover and explore the wonders of OSU at CMA.

Now the museum needs your help to show how collections span beyond the storage rooms of the University into the homes of its Alumni. Collections can reveal many interesting, beautiful, unusual, and humorous facets of our society and ourselves. To illustrate this, the museum will display photographs of OSU Alumni collections in our education space during the exhibition. We want to see all types of collections: Pez dispensers, shot glasses, OSU sports memorabilia, comic books, classic Jazz records, 19th Century stemware—no collection is too simple, silly or serious. We know the vast OSU alumni will be able to provide it all!

View some of the collections that OSU alumni, students and staff have shared with us for the photo exhibition.

There are two ways to submit your pictures:

  • Digitally at education@cmaohio.org (images must be of manageable size and in jpeg format)
  • Via U.S. mail to:
