Photo Selections from Picasso and Friends

On August 12, 2016 in Paris artist Jean Cocteau armed with 4 rolls of film and a recently introduced portable Kodak camera set out to photograph Picasso, and their circle of friends, which included Modigliani, poet Max Jacob, actress Emilienne Greslot, and poet and critic André Salmon, among others. The spontaneous photos Cocteau took that day  introduced a new form of realism into amateur photography.

To celebrate the Picasso exhibition and the photos artist Jean Cocteau took 100 years ago today, we asked photographers to to share photos of their friends, their creative circle, and the people who inspire them. Nearly 175 photos were submitted in 12 days.
