Rothko's Rooms Film Screening

2:00 PM

This 2000 documentary from director David Thompson chronicles the life and career of Mark Rothko. Using comments from family members, friends, artists, art historians, collectors, and curators, the film draws an intimate portrait that provides insight into the man and his masterpieces. Through his large scale paintings, Rothko hoped to move viewers to feel something akin to religious awe and evoke emotional responses to such basic human experiences as tragedy, ecstasy, and doom. This program is free with admission, no registration requested.
