Artist Talk Featuring Sarah Cain

April 18, 2024
6:00–7:00 PM

Location: CMA & Online

Sarah Cain is an internationally acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist known for her provocative and kaleidoscopic abstract paintings. “With Big, Bold Art, Sarah Cain Redefines Seriousness in Painting,” Jonathan Griffin announced in the NY Times. She confidently embraces large-scale works with the same swagger and provocation, as evident in recent projects, including a 150-foot-long stained glass commission at the San Francisco International Airport and a 45-foot-long painting for the East Building Atrium of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

In the summer of 2023, Orange Barrel Media commissioned Sarah Cain to create a permanent outdoor public art installation for its Columbus, Ohio, headquarters at 250 North Harford Avenue. Cain’s monumental work of art is her largest site-specific painting to date and is a vibrant new landmark in the city’s skyline. It envelops the building’s exterior from the ground level rising to the top of its 70-foot tall central silos, *transforming entrances, interior spaces, and adjacent outdoor walls with the artist’s trademark vivid colors and exuberant abstract shapes and lines.

Join us for a conversation between Sarah Cain and Pete Scantland, CEO of Orange Barrel Media, as they discuss her work and the inspiration behind this extraordinary project.
