Join BalletMet Academy Director Maria Torija and the dancers of BalletMet 2 for a special program exploring the powerful language of form and expression shared by dance and sculpture. As sculptors shape raw materials into timeless works, dancers shape space and emotion, building fleeting masterpieces with every movement. From the bold sculptures of Louise Nevelson to today’s visionary choreography, Dr. Torija will discuss how visual artists and dancers have long inspired and reflected one another.

Dr. Torija’s talk will be followed by a brief performance by BalletMet 2 dancers of a stunning new pas de deux, choreographed by Artistic Director Remi Wörtmeyer, celebrating the dancer as a living sculpture.
