Exhibition Description

CATS, the next installation in the Open Gallery of the JP Morgan Chase Center for Creativity, showcases a variety of works in the Museum’s collection featuring these iconic animals. The gallery presents artists’ depictions of both domesticated cats and their wild relatives.

Cats have inspired our collective imagination for millennia. As long as humans have been creative, we’ve been making art about cats.
Worshiped, demonized, personified, and now memeifed, cats are more than beloved companions; they influence societies and cultures. See how artists have found a muse in cats, immortalizing them in their artworks.

The gallery is designed with many opportunities to imagine, play, and think critically about art. Visit often to:
• Share images and stories of the cats in your life.
• Think like an artist at various art-inspired activities.
• Have fun!
