In The Land of Promise, Sa’dia Rehman considers nature of borders, including their contested and often imperialist creation and redefinition. Drawing on this research, Rehman speaks with curator & writer Megha Ralapati about the very real, yet fictional border as a structure and how it is reflected through Rehman’s drawing process and art practice.
This conversation is the first of two events organized by Sa’dia Rehman as part of her 2020-2021 Center for Art and Social Engagement (CASE) fellowship at the Columbus Museum of Art. Rehman's installation The Land of Promise is on view until September 2021.
CASE events are supported by The Contemporaries interest group.
