Mozart to Matisse: Nordic Dawn—Modernism in the Golden Age of Finnish Art

March 16, 2024
2:00–3:00 PM

Location: CMA

Join the Columbus Museum of Art and Columbus Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of visual art and music. The Golden Age of Finnish Art, spanning roughly 1880 to 1910, coincided with the national awakening of Finland which was at the time a duchy under the Russian Empire. Artists such as Helene Schjerfbeck, Ellen Thesleff, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, and Eliel Saarinen are among those who contributed to this singular period in art history. A discussion on these artists and others will be followed by music by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

Tickets are $5 for members, $20 for nonmembers.
