Exhibition Description

This gallery features a selection of exhibition posters produced by Pace Gallery in Columbus. Founded in Boston by Arne Glimcher in 1960, Pace is today an influential contemporary art gallery with eight locations in New York, London, Beijing and Hong Kong. Run by the charismatic dealer Eva Glimcher, the gallery in Columbus operated from 1965 to 1982, and was situated on East Broad Street, just blocks from the Columbus Museum of Art.

Pace/Columbus held many exhibitions by significant artists at a moment when there were few other avenues for regularly experiencing ambitious contemporary art in the city. Like many galleries at the time, Pace/Columbus also produced exhibition posters to advertise and document its exhibitions. Eva Glimcher and her gallery had a strong impact on visual art in Columbus, and these posters offer a small indication of that legacy.

These posters were gifted to the museum by Jan and Ralph Rosenfield.

Unidentified Artist, Picasso at Pace/Columbus September 24–October 21, 1978. Poster. Gift of Ralph and Jan Rosenfield.
