Volunteers are the heart of the museum, contributing their time, talents, enthusiasm, and energy. The museum has rich history of volunteerism including the Beaux Arts and Women’s Board auxiliaries, whose members set the standard for how to organize successful events and programs.
Volunteering is for everyone and all are welcome. We strive to be an inviting and safe place for anyone interested in being a part of the museum family.
Volunteers are vital to our mission and assist with a wide range of jobs in many areas.
You can choose to be a general volunteer or you may choose to be a member of Art Network. As a member of Art Network, you pay annual dues of $50 and have enhanced programing such as networking opportunities with like-minded people, social events, and additional ways to be involved.
For members of Art Network, there is a minimum commitment of 6 hours per year and volunteers can choose to serve weekly, monthly, or on project-based fundraisers. Volunteers should maintain an active CMA membership. Student, Educator, and Senior discounts may apply to museum membership.
General volunteers have no minimum time commitment, but must complete the application.

Docent volunteers undergo an extensive five-month training period that focuses on critical thinking skills, museum education principles and practice and the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. Docents agree to serve for at least two years as gallery educators following their training. They also enjoy social events as well as local, national, and international art trips.
